XCarve laser has an awful refult

I'm actually new with all this laser thing, and right now, I'm tinkering with my XCarve laser here in my little workshop.

I'm trying to engrave some stuff, but I'm running into this really annoying issue, so, whenever the laser changes direction, the lines come out all wonky and not clean at all.

Now, if I'm working with pictures, I've found a workaround using this "overrun mode" thing in the software, and that seems to smooth things out.

But when I try to laser engrave text or just simple lines, the problem comes right back, clear as day.

I'm not even running the laser at a super high speed, just 1200.

Has anyone else in the XCarve world run into this kind of problem before? Any ideas on how to make this right?

Similar thing happened to me a while back. Turned out the lens was loose in the lens holder and was wobbling every time the thing changed direction.

Yeah thats annoying. The wonky lines when your XCarve laser changes direction are pretty common, especially with text and sharp lines. Overrun mode helps with pics, but for text, try tweaking your acceleration and jerk settings or slow down a bit more. Also, check your belts and rails for any slack or play, that often causes shaky lines. Lots of people have dealt with this, so hitting up XCarve forums might get you some quick fixes
